Process Work:
The goal of this task is to create a poster, with a theme of quote of the day.
This task is also a part of DIP, So the goal of this task is combining the
Typography with the Photo that we have, however the photography must not
overpower the typography. For this task i wanted to create something that's
retro
So after so many research of retro poster, i finally managed to came up with a
draft for the headline
i think the headline sketch that i created expressed my quote quite nicely.
the pointing finger combined with the heart icon makes this design very simple
yet fulfilling the goal of expressing the quote.
Mr. Hafiz said that the sketches that I've done is Okay, however he suggested
me to came up with the composition (since i was late to ask Mr. Hafiz for the
feedback). So that's what i did, i wanted the target audience of this poster
to be a worker, so for this task i used the image of a person working.
The image above might look very ugly, however the general idea is that i
wanted to put my quote in the middle of the worker, that way there's a lot
less empty spaces that i have to worry about.
So now it's time to move on to Photoshop, Where i have to cut the image. and
take only the part that i needed.
So i did another attempt:
This time it was much better, and i also liked this design because it has some retro vibes to it, while the thick font ensures that the quote is still readable even from afar. the font that i decided to use is Akira Expanded this font can be found in Dafont.
Next i put the text into my photos,
At this point, i think the design looks good but the font color is still a bit off, so i decided to change it. and also I've noticed a lot of blank spaces, so i decided to put some more elements. for the elements such as the quote caption, "Made with Love" and the "photo coordinates" i decided to use the font "Bebas" this font is also available in dafont.
The image above is the results that I've made by doing more research and
watching a tutorials on how to make a 3D Font Properly, as you can see the results is
far better compared to the first one.
The quote is colored yellow so it grabs the attention of the audience, and
with the additional color of the heart this poster could easily grabs the
attention of the audience. Also I've given the element a dark color and made
it in such a way that doesn't interfere with the main quote.
The empty spaces is now filled with Japanese and Chinese characters, and to
fill the empty spaces on the top I've decided to add some random text like
"Made with love" and on the right side i decided to give the coordinates of
where the photo was taken.
On the bottom of the quote I've put some minor description on why we should do
what we loved, that way the empty spaces are reduced.
After I've done the whole part i decided to add some grain into the poster and vignette to
further highlight the overall look. Also i Decided to move a few word to
further eliminate the blank spaces.
