Introduction:
Research & Progress:
For the first few weeks of this module, my group was doing a research on
the different approaches and the solutions (product) that we are going to
come up with for this module, I personally enjoyed this part the most
because I think it was fun to explore the different solutions.
We’ve written our different ideas on the fig jam board, and during the
class Dr. Wong asks us to come up with 8 different ideas for our project,
I think this was pretty helpful and we indeed got some ideas from these
exercises.
Next is gathering the insight from the participants, since my project is
about Social AI robots, our target audience is Elderly individuals,
Individuals who faced loneliness, Elderly whose family lived far away, and
elderly with health problems or mobility problems. We decided to do
interview with elderly and healthcare givers and ask their opinion about
our ideas and their opinion about AI.
After We’ve done the interview with them, we wrote the affinity diagram
to extract the keyword from the presentation that was done. And after that
we’ve refined the affinity diagram to gain more insight from the
presentation and then we summarized the refined affinity diagram.
And after that we create the empathy map, how might we and the user
persona. After that it was time for the first meeting with the client.
App creation:
After the first meeting with the client, the next step for me is to
create the application since I’m under UI/UX specialization. During the
initial progress of the app there was a misunderstanding and this is
because there was a lack of communication between me and the other person
who is doing the application as well.
During the first creation of the app, we’ve missed the goal of the app
itself. This resulted in me and my partner doing the app from scratch and
we also wasted a few weeks because of the miscommunication.
After a lot of communication and a lot of browsing for the reference design, me and my partner finally worked together and we managed to finish the application on Figma just in time before the final presentation
Final Presentation:
For the final presentation we fixed the problem on the previous
presentation, and we refined everything to make sure that the final
presentation can deliver the proposed solution to the problem statement.
The presentation went smoothly and luckily the client are satisfied with the presentation, she just said that we need to include more information on the presentation such as the target participants.
Final reflection:
During the 14 weeks, I enjoyed the overall learning progress. Although
there are some difficult things at first, I think that my whole group has
done their best to come up with a unique solution to the problem.
I think that this module is an interesting experience for me because this
is the first time that I’ve worked with different students from different
semesters and from different specializations. And this means that because
there are too many different factors, I found it hard to adapt to the
situations because of the different knowledge and experience.
Overall, I think that taking this module is a valuable experience for me
as it teaches me how to work with different people with different skills
and experiences. I learned a lot from this module, and I learned that
communication with your group is an important thing. Other than
communication I find it really important to help your teammate during a
presentation.
Lastly, from this module I learned a lot about how to do a presentation
to your client, I learned that in order to sell a solution to something we
need to answer a simple question which is “Why should I chose your
solution?”, I found out that coming up with a great solution is useless if
we don’t have a unique feature that differs from the competition.
